What you're hiring, beyond the music

Anyone can play a playlist. What you’re paying a DJ for is the four hours you don’t have to think about.

On a typical Plano event I’m on site two to three hours before your first guest arrives. I’ve already had two or three calls with you about your must-play list, your do-not-play list, and how to pronounce every name I’ll say into a microphone. I’ve talked to your coordinator and your photographer so the cake cutting doesn’t happen while half the room is outside. During the night I’m reading the floor, running the announcements, and adjusting the plan when the schedule slips — which it always does, usually by about twenty-five minutes.

Wedding DJ services in Plano, TX

Most of my Plano work is weddings. A full wedding usually means three separate setups, not one:

Ceremony. A dedicated sound system, a lapel mic for your officiant, and cue timing for the processional and recessional. This is a separate rig from the reception, often in a different room or outdoors.

Cocktail hour. Background music at a level people can talk over, usually a third location.

Reception. The main system, dance floor lighting, and me as your MC grand entrance, first dance, parent dances, toasts, cake, bouquet, last song.

I also DJ and MC bilingually in English and Spanish, which matters more in this market than most vendors admit. If half your guest list needs the announcements in Spanish, that shouldn’t be an afterthought.

Corporate:

holiday parties, company milestones, product launches, conferences, trade shows, team events. Corporate work is 20% music and 80% timing clean transitions, clear announcements, and a DJ who reads the room’s energy without hijacking it.

Schools and universities:

proms, homecomings, school dances, campus events, graduations. Clean edits by default, and I’ll work to whatever your administration’s music policy requires.

The Plano venues I work

Plano has a genuinely distinct venue mix, and the room changes the job. A few I know well:

Rooftop Event Spot (1000 14th St) — indoor and outdoor space in one booking. Great flexibility, but see the note on timing below, because the outdoor portion is the part the city cares about.

event1013 and 34 Events (both on E 15th St) — downtown Plano Arts District spaces with real architectural character. Rooms like these need fewer light fixtures placed well, not more fixtures placed evenly.

Reflections Venue and Gardens (1901 E Spring Creek Pkwy) — separate rooms for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. That’s three setups, and any DJ quoting you a single-room price for this venue hasn’t been there.

The Nature & Retreat Center (5901 Los Rios Blvd) — city-owned, bring-your-own-vendors, and there’s a house AV system you can patch into. That can genuinely reduce what you need to rent.

Crystal Banquet (6300 Independence Pkwy) — a large hall and one of North Texas’s main venues for South Asian weddings. Different music program, longer day, different energy curve.

One thing about Plano timing that nobody tells you

Plano rewrote its noise ordinance in 2023 (Ordinance No. 2023-9-18, Chapter 14, Article V). It defines daytime as 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with tighter limits after 10:01 PM.

For an indoor reception this rarely comes up. For a rooftop or an outdoor reception, it means the loud part of your night realistically ends at 10:00 PM.

That isn’t a problem — it’s a planning input. It means we build your timeline backwards from 10:00 PM instead of forwards from 6:00 PM: grand entrance around 7:00, dances and toasts before 8:30, and the peak of the dance floor between 8:30 and 10:00. Done right, nobody notices anything ended early.

Confirm current limits with your venue ordinances change, and some venues hold permits.

Parties, quinceañeras and private events

Birthdays, anniversaries, engagement parties, graduations, holiday parties, retirement parties, backyard events. Quinceañeras are a meaningful part of what I do, and the bilingual MC work matters there as much as the music does.

Musically I run open format  Top 40, hip hop, R&B, Latin, EDM, Bollywood, country, and throwbacks because a room with three generations in it needs all of them across one night.
